Transfer ownership of an account
Hand a site or a whole account to a client, or take one over from an agency.
Two situations come up: moving one site between accounts, and moving the whole account to a new owner.
Moving one site
- Both accounts confirm
The sending owner requests the transfer; the receiving owner accepts it.
- The site moves with its data
Files, database, domains and backups go across. Backup history is preserved.
- Billing switches
From the next renewal, the site is billed to the receiving account.
Moving the whole account
Ownership transfer changes who controls billing and who can close the account. The current owner starts it under Account → Ownership; the new owner accepts by email and adds a payment method. Existing team members and their roles are unchanged.
If you manage several clients, keep each client's sites in their own account and add yourself as an administrator. Handover is then one click and no data moves at all.
