Transfer a domain to WebVue Cloud
Unlock, authorisation code, approval email and the rules that decide whether a transfer is allowed.
Transferring moves the registration itself, not the website. Your site keeps running throughout, as long as DNS is unchanged during the transfer.
Check it is eligible
- Registered or last transferred more than 60 days ago.
- Not within 15 days of a renewal you just paid for; transfer adds a year, and you would pay twice in quick succession.
- Not in clientTransferProhibited status, and not expired past the grace period.
Transfer it
- Unlock the domain
At the current registrar, turn off the transfer lock.
- Get the authorisation code
Sometimes called an EPP code or auth code. It is emailed to the registrant address or shown in the registrar panel.
- Check the registrant email
Approval is sent to the address in the WHOIS record. If it is out of date, fix it before starting; some changes restart the 60-day clock.
- Start the transfer here
Domains → Transfer in. Enter the domain and the code, and pay for the year the transfer adds.
- Approve it
Approve from the email, and accelerate it by approving at the losing registrar too. Otherwise it completes automatically in five days.
Changing nameservers while a transfer is running can leave the zone empty at the moment it completes. Move DNS first, let it settle, then transfer the registration.
After it completes
The domain appears under Domains with its renewal date. Auto-renew is on by default. Existing DNS records are preserved when the zone was already hosted with us.
